  • Improve operations that contribute to a more energy-efficient church building

Success Stories

Green Loan promotes great energy savings

National City Christian Church Foundation, which is an organization that holds in trust, preserves and maintains the physical facilities of the church that shares its name, discovered the importance of going green. In addition to the renovations made through capital campaigns, National City Christian Church Foundation took out a Green Loan with DCEF. National City Christian Church Foundation received the loan to replace more than 800 fluorescent light fixtures with energy efficient LED fixtures in National City’s facilities. With this simple change of light fixtures, it is estimated that National City’s annual energy savings will reach approximately USD $26,000.

Mission Possible

With the help of a short-term bridge loan from DCEF, First Christian Church Minneapolis, Salem English Lutheran Church, and Lyndale United Church of Christ were able to realize the renovation of what is now their fully “green” building.

In an era when buildings that have housed many congregations for decades no longer fit their ministry needs, DCEF partners with Disciples of Christ congregations to help strengthen the stewardship of their financial and capital resources so they are in a better position to do ministry where and how it is most needed.

In short, DCEF accepts investor funds from Disciples individuals and congregations, pays a competitive rate of interest, and then lends that money to congregations who seek to be prayerful stewards of their building and capital resources to further Christ’s work in the world.
