Architectural Consultation

Sometimes congregations face questions and issues with their building that require the expertise of an architect. At the same time, church leaders may feel that it is premature to establish a long-term relationship with a local architect. In these situations Disciples Church Extension Fund’s special Architectural Consultation may be the best solution.

What Is It?

An Architectural Consultation is an advisory service provided by experienced church architects selected by Disciples Church Extension Fund. It is designed to help congregations resolve specific problems and explore ideas related to:

  • Facility accessibility and usage
  • Remodeling and renovations advisability
  • Site development
  • Relocation

Who Should Attend?

Participants should include:

  • The pastor and board chairperson
  • Other church leaders serving on the evaluation and planning team
  • The church architect scheduled through Disciples Church Extension Fund.

When Should This Consultation Take Place?

An architectural consultation is most helpful:

How Much Will It Cost?

The cost of this service to Disciples congregations is $1,600 plus travel expense for the architect.

How Do We Schedule A Consultation?

To arrange an Architectural Consultation:

  • The official board takes formal action requesting an Architectural Consultation from Disciples Church Extension Fund
  • An officer of the congregation’s governing body completes the request form and sends it back to Disciples Church Extension Fund.
  • A representative from Disciples Church Extension Fund will contact the congregation to schedule the consultation. Visits normally take place within 90 days after the request is received.


A follow-up report is provided as a part of the service.
